Fed: No rain forecast for Canberra NYE

Canberrans should be able to leave their umbrellas at home tomorrow night as the severe
storms that lashed the capital last New Year's Eve aren't expected to reappear.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast fine and mostly sunny conditions for tomorrow
and Tuesday .. with tops of 32 and 33 respectively.

Last year .. the ACT suffered some of its worst storms over the new year period which
left a trail of devastation .. including flooded homes .. shattered roofs and damaged
vehicles.

But this year the weather is looking far more conducive for outdoor celebrations and
thousands are expected to fill the city centre.

Fireworks are planned for 9pm and midnight and will be launched from City Hill in the
centre of Canberra.

Bands will be playing in Civic Square to the theme Vegas Fever .. and they include
a Bee Gees cover band and locals Vince Gelonese and the Fuelers.

Just across the road in Garema Place .. the Bass in the Place Dance Party will be returning
for the teenagers and young at heart.
