NSW: Three employees hurt trying to stop factory blaze

SYDNEY, April 29 AAP - Three employees have been hurt trying to stop a blaze at a furniture
factory in Sydney's west.

The three employees received burns and smoke inhalation after trying to hose down the
fire which started at the Lidcombe factory about 11am (AEST) today.

Two of the employees were taken to hospital by ambulance while the third was being
treated at the scene, a NSW Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

About 20 firefighters attended the scene after an automatic fire alarm was triggered,
a NSW Fire Brigades spokesman said.

Fire crews managed to contain the blaze within 15 minutes but a section of the factory
housing heavy machinery was extensively damaged.

The cause of the blaze was not yet known but fire investigators were at the scene.
