NSW:Government criticised for delay on revamp

The New South Wales opposition claims the two year delay in creating a convention centre
in Sydney has cost the state almost one billion dollars in lost economic activity.

It's been announced today the 550 million dollar redevelopment of the entertainment
centre at Darling Harbour will be completed by 2015.

Shadow minister for planning BRAD HAZZARD says the government is playing a desperate
game of catch-up after a report in 2008 found the lack of convention and exhibition facilities
was costing Sydney half-a-billion dollars a year in lost economic activity.
