FIRM TO PAY FINE FOR SEWAGE.(Local)

A business on Route 146 has agreed to pay a $2,000 penalty for allowing raw sewage to flow in to the Dwaaskill in May and June.

Under a consent agreement completed July 20 between Clifton Capitol Associates, which operates Joy Plaza, and the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the company also hasagreed to hook in to the Saratoga County sewer system.

According to the agreement, the company violated two sections of the state's Environmental Conservation Law when its sewer system overflowed on May 25 and June 5, allowing sewage to flow into the creek at the rear of the plaza.
